Here’s What’s Hitting Rock Radio Now

A few new tracks are landing hard this week, while late-August releases keep the Active Rock lane moving.
The Active Rock lane stays busy right now. New singles are dropping, late-August albums are lining up, and a couple of familiar names are making the kind of move that gets attention fast.
On the charts
Radio is still leaning on proven names, and that matters when a new track shows up with real weight behind it. The latest round of releases from Nickelback and Skillet both arrive with the kind of timing that puts them squarely in the conversation for near-term rock rotation.
Nickelback rolls out “Leave Me Behind” on August 21 as the third preview of the band’s next album, and that feels like one to watch closely as stations lock in fresh late-summer adds. Skillet is also keeping pressure on the format after “Scream,” now dropping “Lift Me Up” as the next piece of its fall EP campaign.
New today
Nickelback is back with “Leave Me Behind,” a new single that lands August 21 and gives listeners another look at Everything Under The Sun, due October 30. It follows earlier advance tracks and keeps the band in the middle of the current Active Rock conversation heading into fall.
Jefferson Starship also drops a fresh cut with “Jetpack,” released August 21. It is a different lane from the heavier Active Rock core, but it is still another example of heritage rock names staying active with brand-new music right now.
Just added
Skillet’s “Lift Me Up” arrives August 14 and keeps the band’s momentum moving toward the After The Storm EP on October 9. For stations looking for current, aggressive rock with a familiar name attached, this is the kind of track that can move quickly into regular play.
Fuel is also back in the mix with “Pull Me In,” released August 15 from the upcoming album Pendulum, due October 30. It gives the format another recognizable rock name with a fresh song ready for late-summer spins.
Album drops
This past Friday, August 21, brought a fresh batch of rock and hard rock releases. Among the notable names on the board: Weezer put out the self-titled Weezer, while the overall release calendar also turned up new titles across the hard rock and metal lane.
Looking one week ahead to August 28, the release schedule gets even louder. Beartooth is set to drop Pure Ecstasy, Mastodon is due with Marrow Deep, and In This Moment is lined up with Witch, giving rock fans a stacked end-of-month Friday.
Coming up
The next few weeks are shaping up with a steady feed of new music built for Active Rock listeners. Skillet has After The Storm coming October 9, while Nickelback and Fuel both have new albums set for October 30.
That means the format is not cooling off as August wraps. The songs hitting now are setting up what could be a pretty packed start to the fall rock cycle.
