Here’s What’s Moving This Week

Active Rock Charts, Singles & Release News

Shinedown stays loud at the top, fresh singles keep landing, and a couple of new releases are already knocking on the format’s door.

Active Rock’s got a little heat on it right now. Shinedown is still setting the pace at the top, while a fresh stack of singles from the last ten days keeps giving stations new fuel to work with.

On the charts

Shinedown keeps its grip on the format with “Young Again,” which recently gave the band its 26th No. 1 on the Mediabase Active Rock chart. That’s the kind of hold you can feel across the dial, and it keeps “Ei8ht” planted right in the middle of the conversation.

There’s movement behind it too. Nonpoint’s “Is It” is still carrying momentum after its push at Active Rock, and that gives stations another current title with real bite as September rolls toward the finish line.

New today

Candlebox lands back in the mix with “I Remember Everything,” which arrived Friday, September 25. It’s a notable return because it marks the first new Candlebox music with guitarist Peter Klett since 2012, and that alone makes it one to watch for rotation.

Prong also drops fresh weight with “Fear The Sun,” released September 22. It hits with the kind of sharp, no-frills drive that fits late-night rock blocks and specialty play right out of the gate.

Just added to the conversation

Spiritbox came in with a surprise move earlier this month on “Mourning,” and the track is still fresh enough to feel new on the air. Slipknot did the same with “Arsenal,” giving programmers another hard, immediate option that listeners are going to recognize fast.

Architects keeps the pipeline active too with “Machine,” released September 16. After back-to-back U.S. Mainstream Rock No. 1s from the last album cycle, anything new from that camp is going to get attention in a hurry.

Album drops

Last week brought a few releases worth keeping on the board. Nonpoint’s new album “The Last Word” arrived September 18, and that gives “Is It” even more lift as stations lean into a full project instead of a stand-alone track.

This past Friday, September 25, Theory Of A Deadman added “Part 1: Funeral Songs EP” to the mix. It’s the kind of release that can quickly feed more than one track into the format if listeners respond early.

Coming up

Keep an ear on the next wave. Candlebox is newly back in the picture, Prong has a fresh single out in the wild, and the format is clearly not short on records with enough punch to break through before October gets here.

Bottom line, this week belongs to proven chart muscle up top and recognizable names rolling in with fresh product underneath. That’s a good place for Active Rock to be, and it sounds strong on the air right now.
